This is the first letter we have from the Wengenwroth family, dated sometime in the summer of 1947. Mrs. Wengenwroth expresses her deep gratitude for the package and introduces her family. She tells of the impact and devastation the war has had on Germany and her family.

In this letter, Mr. Wengenwroth describes the rainy weather, his ailing daughter, and the scarcity of food and supplies in their town. Through that, Mr. Wengenwroth prays for healing and strength, and wishes the Orman family a happy Easter.

By 1949, you can see that a friendship is forming between the families. Mr. Wengenwroth references a letter that came from the Orman family about the winter in Nebraska. He thanks the Ormans for their good deeds and tells of their Christmas service at their church, which has gotten a new organ.

More letters from the Wengenwroth family are in the book "Dear Family Orman," which will be available for sale on April 11th, 2026, in person only.
